Physical characteristics of maize grain as influenced by varietal and moisture differences

The objective of the study was to determine geometric, gravimetric, aerodynamic, and frictional properties maize grain as affected by varietal differences moisture content. Honampa, Omankwa, Abontem, Timtim, Obatanpa were five varieties studied. Moisture content, geometric properties, gravimetric aerodynamic mean diameters ranged between 6.65 7.55 mm, while projected areas 52.98 73.12 m2. surface area 139.69 180.29 mm2, sphericity from 0.71 0.80. following ranges obtained thousand weight (213.74 292.89 g), bulk density (709.50 746.00 kg/m3). volume a single seed 1.71 × 10−7 2.34 m3 true 1250.0 kg/m3. Porosity 40.32% 43.24% terminal velocity 2.12 2.98 m/s. Drag coefficient 7.18 14.60, drag force 0.002 0.003, Reynolds number 992.71 1579.20 similarly obtained. static angle repose varied with material surfaces dynamic variety. demonstrated 19° repose, which portrays very free flow.
